Day 1: Kathgodam (554m) to Dhoor Village (2,200m) | 8–9 Hours DriveDrive Distance: 190 km Stay: Homestay or Campsite Your journey begins early in the morning at 6:30 AM from Kathgodam. A shared Bolero will take you through the scenic route of Bhimtal, Almora, Bageshwar, and Bharadi. At Bharadi, you will switch to another shared vehicle for the final stretch to Dhoor Village via Karni Village. By evening, we reach Dhoor Village (2,200m), where our local guide will welcome you and escort you to a comfortable homestay or campsite. The village offers stunning Himalayan views, setting the perfect tone for your trek. After dinner, the guide will brief you about the upcoming trek and challenges ahead.
Day 2: Dhoor Village to Dhakuri (2,800m) | 4 km TrekTrek Distance: 4 km Trek Duration: 3–4 Hours Stay: Guesthouse or Campsite We start our trek early in the morning after breakfast, heading towards Dhakuri Pass (2,800m). The trail is scenic and easy, passing through dense oak and rhododendron forests, crossing small mountain streams along the way. Depending on the time, we either carry packed lunch or have a freshly cooked hot meal at Dhakuri guesthouse or campsite. After reaching Dhakuri, enjoy the mesmerizing views of snow-clad Himalayan peaks before settling in for an overnight stay.
Day 3: Dhakuri to Chiltha Mata Temple Top (3,300m) & Return to Dhakuri | 10 km Trek (Round Trip)Trek Distance: 5 km (ascent) + 5 km (descent) Trek Duration: 6–8 Hours Stay: Guesthouse or Campsite Today is the most rewarding day of the trek as we aim to witness the sunrise over the Himalayas. We start at 5:00 AM with tea/coffee and dry fruits before beginning the 5 km ascent to Chiltha Mata Temple Top (3,300m). The summit offers a 360-degree panoramic view of the Himalayas, including Nepalese peaks, endless mountain ridges, and picturesque villages. We spend the entire day at the summit, capturing breathtaking sunrise and sunset views. For photography lovers, this is a perfect place to set up a time-lapse camera. As the sun sets, we descend back to Dhakuri for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4: Dhakuri to Loharkhet (1,760m) | 8 km TrekTrek Distance: 8 km Trek Duration: 4–5 Hours Stay: Homestay or Campsite After breakfast, we begin our 8 km descent to Loharkhet (1,760m). This scenic trail was once a popular trekking route before roads to Khati were developed. The path is gradual and easy, offering stunning views of valleys and surrounding peaks. A packed lunch will be carried, and we aim to reach Loharkhet by early evening. Here, we will check into a local homestay or campsite for our final night in the mountains.
Day 5: Loharkhet to Kathgodam (554m) | 8–9 Hours DriveDrive Distance: 180 km Drive Duration: 8–9 Hours After an early morning breakfast, we bid farewell to the mountains. A shared Bolero will pick you up from Loharkhet, and at Bharadi, you will switch to another vehicle heading towards Kathgodam. The journey takes you through beautiful landscapes, small towns, and river valleys, offering a final glimpse of the serene Himalayas. By evening, we arrive back at Kathgodam, marking the end of an unforgettable trekking experience.
