Ladakh Trekking The Markha Valley Trek

This is one of the most preferred and beautiful treks due to its variations . Markha Valley Trek in Ladakh is one of the most fascinating treks in the Himalayas. It has giant rock pinnacles, beetling cliffs, narrow defiles and prayer-flagged passes. The route takes us high into the Himalayas crossing over two passes, the Ganda La (4850m) and Kangmaru La (17,409ft/5,306m). The trail leads us past hilltop monasteries, elaborate Tibetan chortens (shrines) and mani (prayer) walls. You may well spot Himalayan Blue Sheep, Ibex and, if you are lucky, the rare snow leopard. The views are spectacular and towards the end of this trek you will be able to see the snow capped peaks of Tibet and the Karakorum range of mountains.

After the trek you will have time to relax in Leh, the capital of Ladakh, before your flight back to Delhi.

Day 01 : Arrive Delhi
Arrive at the international airport as per your flight schedule. Met on arrival and transfer to Hotel.

Day 02 : Fly Delhi Leh
This morning transfer to airport . It is an early flight and fly to Leh. It is an spectacular flight over the Himalayas. On arrival transfer to hotel. Day at leisure to acclamatise.

Day 03 : Leh
After breakfast we start a walk tour to Shanti Stupa on the hillock. Later visit Shankar Gompa and Leh Palace. This will be an acclamatising walk tour.

Day 04 : Leh
After breakfast visit the famous monastries of Shey, thiksey and Hemis representating the Bhudist culture and watch the religious ceremonies by the monks.

Day 05 : Leh Marteslang Chokdo 4130 m
After breakfast today it is a drive till roadhead Marteslang. On arrival the first leg of 3 4 hrs trek starts till Chokdo . Camping.

Day 06 : Trek Chokda Kongmaru la 5000 m
A wake up call from our staff with a cup of hot tea followed by breakfast. Start the trek to reach Kongmaru La by covering aprox. 14 km. Today it is a complete ascent which passes through narrow gorges with an excellent view of Ladakh range from the top of the pass and the villages of Indus valley in the North. Day 07 : Trek Kongmaru La Nimaling 4900 m
Wake to a fresh and cool morning with a hot cup of tea followed by Breakfast. . We start the trek to reach Nimaling nearly 13km trek. Nimaling plain has a sweeping pasture where thousands of Sheep, goats, yaks and cow graze during the summer months.Rising to the south is 6400 m Kang Yurzi peak, a lovely mountain , but not an easy one to climb. Day 08 : Trek Nimaling Hankar 3985 m
Today after breakfast it is an aprox. 15km trek to small village with a few homes at Hankar. Camping.

Day 09 : Trek Hankar Markha 3550 m
Today after breakfast it is nearly 15 km trek to reach Markha valley. Markha village has a few homes and gateway to Markha valley. On the east of Markha village lies the Markha Gompa on a hill.Camping

Day 10 : Trek Markha Chalok 3500 m
After breakfast start your trek to chalok which is nearly 15km trek from the start point. After arrival stay at camp.

Day 11 : Trek Chalok Shingo 3450 m
With an Juley the greetings in Ladkah our staff will wake you up with a hot cup of tea followed by breakfast. Start your nearly 11 km trek to reach Shingo. Camping

Day 12 : Trek Shingo Ganda La Rumbek 4940 m
After breakfast today we will be prepared to cross the Ganda La to reach Rumbak which is nearly a 14km trek. Camping

Day 13 : Trek Rumbak Stok drive Leh 3700 m
After an early breakfast today trek nearly 8km to reach the railhead at stok. Stok has a palace and museum which has a lage collection. Drive to leh and check in at hotel.

Day 14 : In Leh
A chance to relax and do any last minute sightseeing. In the evening their will be a farewell party with the camp crew. Overnight Hotel.

Day 15 : Fly to Delhi
Today it is an early flight back to Delhi. On arrival transfer to Hotel. Later tour of Delhi. Stay overnight in Hotel.

Day 16: Depart Delhi
Today you will be transferred to Int. airport for your onward journey as per your flight schedule.

Altitude Variation 3500 m to 5000 m

WEATHER:The best weather in this part of Himachal Pradesh is from late April to November ( July Sep Monsoons ) with warm sunny days and pleasant nights. It can be quite hot during the day (up to 25°C) at lower altitudes and at higher altitudes (over 10,000ft) the temprature can drop to -1°C at night. In late March/April there is the added attraction to many of rhododendron in bloom.
