Learn about this 5.1-kilometer out-and-back trail near Moab, Utah. It takes an average of 1 hour 35 minutes to accomplish this moderately difficult route. Because this is a popular hiking region, you will most likely come across other people while exploring. The route is available all year and is a great place to come at any time. On your way to this spectacular rocky formation, you'll cross tiny stone arches, stacks of balanced boulders, and tall sandstone fins.
Delicate Arch Road leads to the parking lot. From the parking lot, take the Delicate Arch Trail head and cross the salt wash bridge. The hike to Delicate Arch is slightly over 1.5 miles each way, for a total of around 3 miles round-trip. It is best hiked in the spring and fall when the weather is cooler, or during the golden hours shortly after sunrise and before sunset, when the rocks appear to turn a wonderful color and the air temperature is comfortable.
There is no shade along this walk, so carry some water and a snack. hat. The track is not overly challenging, despite the wide slickrock and occasional exposure to heights. The first half-mile of the track is wide and well-defined. Follow the rock cairns after you reach the slickrock. The trail gradually ascends and levels out toward the summit of the rock face. The trail follows a rock wall for about 200 yards before reaching Delicate Arch.
Delicate Arch is a must-see when visiting Arches National Park. Parking is restricted and can fill up rapidly during high tourist season, so get there early. For a shorter hike, drive to the end of Delicate Arch Road and stroll to Upper Delicate Arch Viewpoint, which offers a distinctive but more distant view of the arch.
