This 17.7-kilometer out-and-back trail near Gatlinburg, Tennessee, is a must-see. Generally regarded as a difficult route. This is a popular backpacking and hiking region, so you'll almost certainly run into other people while exploring. This trail is best visited between April and November. Dogs are not permitted on this trail, so leave them at home.
This difficult trail that leads up to Mount LeConte is one of the most popular in the area. This fantastic hike is a great choice for anyone wishing to explore the best of the Smoky Mountains, with magnificent views, well-maintained trails, and a cave. The parking lots on Newfound Gap Road fill up quickly due to its popularity. This is a more popular ascent path than the neighboring Rainbow.
The hike starts with a steep ascent along Alum Cave Creek and the Styx Branch. Arch Rock, one of the trail's significant sights, is located at 1.3 miles. Wind and water wore away the softer rock, forming the arch's fascinating geological features. The route runs directly beneath the natural arch, providing an excellent vantage point for photographs.
Inspiration Point will be reached after around 2.3 miles. Views of Little Duck Hawk Ridge, The Eye of the Needle, and Myrtle Point on Mt. LeConte may be had from here. Soon after, you'll arrive at Alum Cave Bluff, a superb photo opportunity distinguished by its orange clay.
The LeConte Lodge, located near the peak of Mount LeConte, is located just past Alum Cave and offers rustic cabins and multi-room lodges. However, don't expect to walk there and locate a spot to stay overnight. Reservations are required months in advance. The cabins are the only formal accommodations available in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. You can also buy refreshments and use the restroom inside the lodge.
You'll be on the Bull Head Trail after you reach the lodge. The Bull Head Trail connects to the Boulevard Trail, which goes to Mt Leconte's top. Those wishing for a more difficult task can also climb to Cliff Top from the resort.
