Eligibility
- Age: Spirit Airlines accepts unaccompanied minors between the ages of 5 and 14 years.
- Flights: Unaccompanied minors are only accepted on direct (non-stop) flights. They are not permitted on connecting flights, international flights, or domestic flights with a stop or transfer.
Fees
Cost: There is a service fee of approximately $150 each way per child, which is in addition to the cost of the ticket. This fee covers the extra care and supervision provided by Spirit Airlines staff.
Booking Process
- Reservations: Unaccompanied minor bookings cannot be made online. Reservations must be made by calling Spirit Airlines' customer service.
- Required Information: The following information must be provided when booking: the name, address, and phone number of the person who will drop off the child at the departure airport and the person who will pick up the child at the destination airport.
Drop-Off and Pick-Up
- Check-In: The guardian dropping off the child must check in at the airport and accompany the child to the gate. The guardian must remain at the airport until the flight has departed.
- Pick-Up: The designated guardian picking up the child must arrive at the airport early, provide valid identification, and wait at the designated pick-up area for the child's arrival. Only the designated guardian will be allowed to pick up the child.
In-Flight Experience
Supervision: Spirit Airlines staff will supervise unaccompanied minors throughout the flight and assist them with boarding, seating, and deplaning. The child will be seated in the rear of the aircraft to ensure they are close to the flight attendants.
Important Considerations
- Behavior: Unaccompanied minors must be able to follow crew instructions and behave appropriately during the flight. Spirit Airlines reserves the right to refuse service if the child cannot travel alone.
- Documentation: Ensure the child has all necessary documentation, such as identification and contact information for the guardians involved.
